Travis Kvapil hasn't enjoyed much success on the track in his short Cup career, with just six top 10s in 106 starts, but he can now claim victory over some of NASCAR's most popular driver in at least one challenge -- best overall paint scheme of 2008.

The CHiPs scheme had placed second among the 11 specialty paint schemes in Round 2 (view complete results), but with the choices limited to four for the final round, the CBSSports.com community jumped on the bandwagon of the Yates Racing driver, who had sported no less than 17 different paint schemes in 2008 because he had no primary sponsorship in place.
Taking a close second with 925 votes was prohibitive favorite Earnhardt Jr. and his Mountain Dew retro scheme, which had taken top honors in the second round.
Bringing up the rear a distant third and fourth were Gordon, the primary scheme winner (view complete results), and Busch. Gordon's DuPont scheme captured 559 votes, while Busch's M&M's scheme was the choice of 366.
So what does Kvapil win? Hmmm, how about some good, old fashioned bragging rights? (Sorry, but in these economic times, the budget is tight). Kvapil's CHiPs car will forever be known as having the best NASCAR Sprint Cup paint scheme of 2008 -- at least according to CBSSports.com voters.
And with that, we put 2008 in the books and look toward 2009.
Gordon, for one, will have a new primary paint scheme next season. It's just the third change to his primary paint scheme during his illustrious career. He began his career in 1993 with the "Rainbow Warrior" scheme before transitioning to the "Fire and Flames" scheme in 2001. The 2009 design has been dubbed "Firestorm".
No voting this week. Just enjoy the gallery below of Kvapil's winning scheme and some of the new looks you'll see on the track in 2009.
