Keselowski replacing Stremme at Penske for rest of season

MOORESVILLE, N.C. -- Brad Keselowski will start his new job at Penske Racing a little early.

Keselowski will drive the No. 12 Dodge for the final three NASCAR Sprint Cup races of the season, replacing David Stremme.

Keselowski, who won the Cup race at Talladega in April, signed a deal in September to take over the No. 12 in 2010. Team owner Roger Penske opted to bring Keselowski in ahead of schedule so the driver can get jump start on next season.

The 25-year-old Keselowski is currently ranked third in the Nationwide Series points race while driving for JR Motorsports. He'll drive the No. 22 Dodge for Penske in the Nationwide Series next year.

Stremme was 31st in points through 33 races this season.

Penske announced the change on Monday.

I don't care for David Stremme one way or another but he never should have been in Cup for this long; or ever for that matter.  You can't have 43 Johnson's, Gordon's, Stewart's or Busch's on the track as there aren't enough drivers of that caliber out there to fill the field.  As a result you will have to have your Blaney's, Menard's, Green's, Sadler's and Gilliland's.  Stremme belo ...(more)

I respect David Stremme and it would be good to let him finish the season out. He did really well in nationwide as Brad K has as well. I think it comes down to the performance of the car which I do not believe it up to par and I don't think Brad will change that either. Stremme has been involved in a lot of bad luck this year and wrecks which were not all his fault. I feel sorry for him but Brad i ...(more)
