Sadler's Busch team penalized for rules infractions

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- NASCAR penalized Elliott Sadler's Busch series team Wednesday for rules infractions at New Hampshire International Speedway.

Sadler was docked 25 points, Robert Yates lost 25 car-owner points, and crew chief Todd Parrott was fined $10,000 and placed on probation until Sept. 21 for using unapproved shock absorbers. The infraction was discovered during the postrace inspection Saturday.

Sadler, ninth in the Nextel Cup standings, has driven in only nine Busch events this season. He finished fourth in the race won by Martin Truex Jr.

Chris Rice, crew chief for Stacy Compton, was fined $5,000 for an unapproved throttle shaft and throttle plates that were too thin after they were discovered in the Busch series' opening-day inspection.
