Fuller captures Top Fuel, ending Dixon's holiday streak

ENGLISHTOWN, N.J. -- Top Fuel driver Rod Fuller ended Larry Dixon's Father's Day winning streak at five Sunday, beating him in the final of the K&N Filters NHRA Supernationals with a quarter-mile run of 4.692 seconds at 314.24 mph.

Dixon finished in 4.825 seconds at 299.73 mph.

"I knew Dixon had that Father's Day thing going, but our car was running great all weekend and I knew we had a chance if we stayed within ourselves," Fuller said. "This one's for my dad. He's a racer and he's the reason I love racing. He's my best friend."

Ron Capps won the Funny Car competition, Jason Line topped the Pro Stock field and Matt Smith took the Pro Stock Motorcycle title in the $1.8 million event.

In the Funny Car final, Capps had a 5.025-second run at 299.46 mph to edge Gary Scelzi (5.012 seconds at 301.81 mph.).
