Questions and answers with Kelly Perdew
KP: I do anticipate that (we) will do pay-per-views in the future to defray some of the costs, but we really are about growing the MMA industry. We have an extensive advertising and subscription model that we are very excited about.
GH: Will Pro Elite remain more of a third party as opposed to putting on your own cards?
KP: Correct. We are about providing a set of tools to all of the people interested in MMA -- managers, promoters, nutritionists -- you name it.
GH: Your first venture into streaming MMA was the Showtime Elite XC card from a few months ago. It was a very popular show for the network in which Pro Elite televised the undercard not shown on Showtime. How did that go?
KP: I believe Showtime said they did very well. We had thousands of people watching the undercard live.
GH: Did your experience from The Apprentice help you with Pro Elite?
KP: Yes, Donald Trump taught me to think big. We did not exist as a company seven months ago. How do you think big? There is obviously a big powerhouse in the U.S. (UFC). If you think really big, we were able to secure the deal with Showtime. We were able to secure multiple sponsors. We accomplished in seven months what most people take a year to do.
GH: Are you still working with Trump in any capacity?
KP: No, I'm not working with Trump on any projects at the moment.
GH: What happened at the end of your 12-month stint with the Trump organization?
KP: I met with Trump after the 12-month period. He said, "We want to keep you on. We really like you." I replied, "I had a great time, but I'm an entrepreneur at heart. You've been a tremendous help to me." I can't say enough good things about Donald Trump. He was great to me. Donald and I have a great relationship.
GH: Back to MMA. Are there any special features that Pro Elite has planned for down the line?
KP: Every week to two weeks, we will be making improvements to the site. The most important thing we do is listening to the MMA community. We plan to give the fans everything they want. We also want to give the fans a tremendous amount of access to the fighters.
GH: Should be very interesting going forward. I'd like to thank you very much for your time. Do you have any closing comments for the fans who may be logging on to www.proelite.com in the future?
KP: I would say to pre-register for the big fight on March 31 between Trigg and Lawler. Please contact me directly at kellyperdew.proelite.com and let me know what you think about the site.
