Man found guilty of murdering former British champ Oyebola

LONDON -- A man was found guilty Wednesday of fatally shooting former British heavyweight champion James Oyebola over an argument about smoking in a bar.

The 46-year-old boxer was shot by Kanyanta Mulenga in the neck and leg on July 23, 2007. He died four days later.

Oyebola had asked a group of people to stop smoking in a west London bar. The shooting happened three weeks after Britain's ban on smoking in public buildings took effect.

Oyebola won the British heavyweight title in 1994 and a bronze medal at the 1986 Commonwealth Games after losing to Lennox Lewis in the semifinals.

Mulenga is still to be sentenced.
