Naito retains WBC flyweight title by TKO of Yamaguchi

TOKYO -- Daisuke Naito of Japan defeated compatriot Shingo Yamaguchi on a technical knockout in the 11th round Tuesday to retain his WBC flyweight title.

Naito sent Yamaguchi to the canvas with a right to the head early in the 11th and then finished the challenger off with a barrage of punches that forced the referee to stop the fight.

Naito improved to 34-3-2 with 21 KOs, while Yamaguchi dropped to 23-2-6.

It was Naito's fourth successful defense of the title he won in July 2007 with a win over Pongsaklek Wonjongkam of Thailand.
