CBS Sports to air two bowl games this week

CBS Sports concludes 2008 college football season with Brut Sun Bowl and Konica Minolta Gator Bowl

CBS Sports Producer Craig Silver Named "Legend of the Sun Bowl"

NEW YORK -- CBS Sports' 2008 coverage of college football concludes over New Year's with two bowl games. On Wednesday, Dec. 31 (2-6 p.m., ET), *No. 24-ranked Oregon State faces *No. 18-ranked Pittsburgh in the 75th annual Brut Sun Bowl, live on the CBS Television Network. This marks the 41st consecutive year CBS Sports will broadcast the matchup from El Paso, Texas.

CBS Sports' lead college football announce team of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson call the action for Oregon State-Pittsburgh from Sun Bowl Stadium while Tracy Wolfson serves as sideline reporter. Craig Silver, CBS Sports' coordinating producer of college football, produces and Steve Milton directs the Network's coverage.

Silver, working his 21st Sun Bowl as either a producer or co-producer, has been named a "Legend of the Sun Bowl." He will be honored this week in a ceremony in El Paso by the Sun Bowl Association.

On New Year's Day, Thursday, Jan. 1, 2009 (1-5 p.m., ET), CBS Sports broadcasts the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl for the third consecutive year as Nebraska takes on Clemson. The Gator Bowl is the sixth-oldest college bowl game and was the first post-season bowl game to be televised nationally. CBS Sports broadcast the first-ever televised Gator Bowl on Dec. 31, 1954.

Play-by-play announcer Craig Bolerjack along with analysts Steve Beuerlein and Dan Fouts handle the call for Nebraska-Clemson from Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla. Steve Scheer produces and Jim Cornell directs.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL TODAY, the Network's pre-game, halftime and post-game studio show, will be on-site in Jacksonville for the Gator Bowl, with host Tim Brando, along with analysts Spencer Tillman and Tony Barnhart. Vin DeVito produces and Linda Malino directs. Harold Bryant is Vice President, Production, CBS Sports.
