CBS Sports’ analyst Bill Macatee hosts the PGA TOUR Special “PHIL MICKELSON: THE PEOPLE’S CHAMPION” on Saturday, Aug. 12 (1:30-2:30 PM, ET). Mickelson is one of the world’s most talented players and an athlete of rare accomplishment. Three times a major champion, Mickelson resides in the upper level of golf’s competitive stratosphere. Without any special access, PHIL MICKELSON: THE PEOPLE’S CHAMPION also documents, in a behind-the-scenes style, the week of the 2006 U.S. Open as Mickelson chased his third consecutive major championship at Winged Foot amidst the electrified atmosphere that can only be generated by his passionate New York fans. Interspersed within the show also is footage and interviews with Phil, his dad and those in the San Diego area who introduced him to the game and saw his enormous potential at a very young age.
