Arizona suffered its second loss of the season on Friday in double overtime at the hands of its in-state rival Arizona State. Despite that, Arizona still belongs on the top line of the bracket.
Its two losses have come to teams that are possible (but not definite) tournament teams, which is a negative, but the Wildcats still have eight top-50 wins, including a neutral court win over Duke, and road wins at Michigan, UCLA and San Diego State. Only Kansas has as many top-50 RPI wins. Not only do they belong on the top line, they should still be ahead of Florida, if not Wichita State.
The only other consideration is that both losses have come since the loss of Brandon Ashley to a season-ending injury. Ashley averaged 12 points and six rebounds per game. The committee will put a little more weight on how the Wildcats perform without him, but just a little.
