Basketball tripleheader scheduled for MSG on Super Bowl eve

A non-conference showdown between Michigan State and Georgetown will highlight -- at least for college basketball fans -- a hoops tripleheader on Feb. 1 at New York's Madison Square Garden, according to a report from MLive.com. The event is designed to take advantage of the national spotlight that will be on the Super Bowl scheduled for the following day at nearby Metlife Stadium.

An official announcement is expected soon.

St. John's will play Marquette as the other part of the afternoon schedule. The nightcap will be an NBA game between the Miami Heat and the New York Knicks. Ticket information is not yet available.
