Bracketology: Providence plays in early; Michigan moves to the top
Providence won the Big East and played themselves out of the play in game, which Michigan moved up to the top line with a win over Ohio State
Providence was going to be one of those teams sweating out selection Sunday. They desperately needed a quality win away from home to secure a spot, but Villanova got beat too early. So, Providence got the quality win late, beating Creighton for the Big East title and eliminating the need for an at-large bid.
With Providence already having played itself in, the play-in games needed another team, and I am projecting a team close to home, but not the home team. Xavier drops into the First Four and is paired with SMU. Tennessee is projected to play BYU.
