Cal State-Fullerton women’s basketball assistant coach Monica Quan and her fiancé were found dead in a car Sunday night.
KABC in California reported the bodies of a man and woman were found in their vehicle on the top floor of a parking garage in Irvine, Calif., around 9:10 p.m., and that the deaths are being investigated as a double homicide.
Fullerton released a statement from school President Mildred Garcia (via Orange County Register):
"The loss of any member of the Titan family causes our community great grief, but the loss of one of our own under these circumstances is indeed tragic and heart wrenching. We hope that Monica's family and friends will feel and be comforted by our support during this difficult time."
Quan was 28 years old, while her fiancé, Keith Lawrence, was 27. From 2006-08, after transferring from Division I Cal Poly, Lawrence played basketball at Concordia College, which he helped propel to the NAIA finals in 2007. Quan was a graduate assistant at Concordia during those years, after playing at Long Beach State.
