Danuel House, TaShawn Thomas want release from Houston
Houston's two players have requested a release in the wake of the Cougars hiring Kelvin Sampson.
When Kelvin Sampson took over at Houston earlier this month, he expected to have some quality talent left on the roster.
Unfortunately for him, his two best players are pushing for a release -- and the Cougars are denying them right now.
Junior power forward TaShawn Thomas and sophomore swingman Danuel House have requested a transfer, but Houston is delaying the process, sources told CBSSports.com.
"They are ready to leave and see what schools have interest in them," one source said.
Jim Hicks of RCS Sports said the players have filed an appeal to seek release.
A source told CBSSports.com that Sampson already met with the two players, but wants to meet with them again before making a decision.
"It's keeping them from opportunities elsewhere," a source said.
Houston granted a release to Jaaron Simmons, a point guard who requested a transfer in late March. But Thomas (15.4 ppg, 8.1 rpg) and House (13.6 ppg, 5.3 rpg) continue to wait.
