Doug McDermott to join Marcus Smart at USA hoops minicamp

Two days after Oklahoma State's Marcus Smart was the only college name listed for USA Basketball's July minicamp, another college face familiar to the program will be joining him.

Two-time Missouri Valley Player of the Year Doug McDermott of Creighton Bluejays will also get runs in with Team USA in Las Vegas next week. The organization announced the move on Thursday afternoon on Twitter.

McDermott recently returned from a trip to Russia, where USA Basketball played in the World University Games. Alas, the Americans didn't fare well, finishing ninth. McDermott will be a senior at Creighton next year; the Bluejays will be moving from the Missouri Valley to the Big East, and they could be the league favorites in the preseason.
