Hoyas' Thompson: We don't expect Whittington to play this season
Georgetown will likely be without the services of forward Greg Whittington in 2013-14.
Georgetown coach John Thompson III said Tuesday he doesn't expect Greg Whittington to play for the Hoyas during the upcoming season.
The 6-8 forward suffered a torn left ACL in June.
"We're not planning on it," Thompson said when asked whether or not Whittington would suit up this season. "We're preparing as if Greg will not play."
Whittington averaged 12.1 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last season, starting 13 games before being ruled academically ineligible at the start of Big East play.
Whittington will have two years of eligibility remaining if he sits out this season as a medical redshirt.
