Jahii Carson's ankle could keep him out of Friday's game
Arizona State has lost two of its last three, and it heads into Friday's trip to DePaul with the status of Jahii Carson up in the air.
Arizona State point guard Jahii Carson sprained his ankle against Miami in the Wooden Legacy last week, and the injury seems to have lingered.
According to Doug Haller of AZ Central, Carson could miss Friday’s game against DePaul.
ASU PG Jahii Carson - who sprained an ankle in the Wooden Tournament - limited in practice this week. Questionable for Friday at DePaul.— Doug Haller (@DougHaller) December 4, 2013
The Sun Devils are struggling since their 6-0 start, getting blown out by Creighton and losing to a rebuilding Miami team in their last three games. Fortunately, the upcoming slate isn’t too difficult. After the road trip to DePaul – which wouldn’t be an easy win without Carson – Arizona State closes non-league play with three straight home games: Grambling State, Texas Tech and UC Irvine.
Carson has been one of the best players in the country this season, averaging 20.2 points and 5.1 assists while shooting 50.4 percent from the field and 51.5 percent from 3-point range. Given the new rules, he has been borderline unguardable due to his quickness and ability to get into the lane and finish. In a win at UNLV earlier this season, Carson went for 40 points and seven assists. In his last outing, Carson was hampered by his ankle and finished with just eight points on 2-for-14 shooting.
