Jordan McLaughlin emerges as one of best PGs on West coast

LAS VEGAS – In terms of West coast point guards, Parker Jackson-Cartwright seemed to have a stranglehold on the No. 1 spot in the class of 2014. Lately, though, Jordan McLaughlin has been closing the gap.

McLaughlin, a 6-foot lead guard from Etiwanda (Calif.), has played extremely well on the AAU circuit with Prodigy Elite. He has very good length and athleticism, and he is really solid in transition. McLaughlin gets to the rim for finishes, and knows how to change speeds.

“I’m playing better, playing my game,” he said, “My hard work is starting to pay off. I’m doing well.”

McLaughlin is hearing from a variety of schools, namely USC , UCLA, San Francisco, Gonzaga, Memphis and Arizona. UNLV also tracked him in Vegas, while San Diego State is also in the mix.

He has taken trips to USC and UCLA, and plans to trek to Arizona in November or December.

“[I’m looking for] style of play and how the coaching staff treats the players,” McLaughlin said.
