The 6-foot-7 forward had an up-and-down season. Some anticipated he might leave due to the influx of talent in the program next season, but the school announced he would be returning for his sophomore season.
The mild-mannered Tennessee native averaged 11.2 points and six rebounds per game this season and, despite his inconsistent play and effort, NBA scouts told CBSSports.com that he would be a lock first-round pick and could have even gone in the latter portion of the lottery.
However, Poythress wasn't ready and decided to return to Lexington. John Calipari will bring in a loaded freshman class next year, one that includes talented power forward Julius Randle, wing James Young and potentially the top player in the nation -- small forward Andrew Wiggins. The Wildcats also return sophomore power forward Kyle Wiltjer and big man <a href=.
