March Madness 2016: CBS' Selection Sunday show expanding to two hours

Your first look at the official bracket will come, as always, on Selection Sunday. (USATSI)

Selection Sunday is expanding.

CBS has announced this year's NCAA Basketball Championship Selection Show is going from one hour to two -- and it will begin at 5:30 p.m. ET.

On March 13, CBS will exclusively reveal the Field of 68. The show will go from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. ET and will follow the Big Ten tournament's championship game. This is the first time change since 2002 for the Selection Show, which in years past began at 6 p.m. ET.

The bonus hour is going to allow for more on-air reaction, analysis, interviews with coaches and, of course, a long discussion with the chairman of this year's Selection Committee. That man is Oklahoma athletic director Joe Castiglione. The NCAA opted to move its Selection Committee deliberations from Indianapolis to New York, meaning Castiglione will be in studio to recap how the 10-person panel decided upon the big bracket.

Greg Gumbel and Ernie Johnson will co-host this year's Selection Show and will be joined by  Clark Kellogg, Charles Barkley, Kenny Smith, Seth Davis and Doug Gottlieb. It's the 35th straight year CBS has aired a Selection Show for the tournament, and it's of course one of the biggest TV events on the sports calendar.

If you're not near a TV, you'll be able to stream the Selection Show via NCAA March Madness Live app on any device. CBS and Turner are in their sixth year of partnership in broadcasting the NCAA Tournament. This year's Final Four will be televised on TBS on Saturday, April 2. TBS will also air the national championship game two nights later, on April 4.
