Miami wins ACC tourney title -- can Canes get No. 1 seed?
Could Miami end up on the No. 1 line?
With several top seed candidates falling before the championship game, Miami is getting some hype as a potential No. 1 seed when the brackets are released in three hours. Do the Hurricanes have a chance, though? They are coming off an 87-77 win over North Carolina in the title game.
Let's look at their resume, though. Miami has a top-five RPI and a top-10 RPI, with a very impressive 8-2 record against the top 50. They dominated Duke by 27 back in January, then lost to them by three points in early March, while also owning a win over Michigan State. A 15-4 record against the top 100 is extremely impressive, but it's the two sub-100 losses that could keep them off the top line. Miami has defeats at the hands of Georgia Tech and Wake Forest, and also dropped one to Florida Gulf Coast.
The top of the resume is great, but it's the bottom that could prevent Miami from ending up on the No. 1 line.
