North Carolina State announced Friday afternoon that senior center Jordan Vandenberg is expected to miss at least a month and perhaps as much as six weeks after spraining his left ankle Wednesday.

Vandenberg's sprain is a "Grade 3," according to the school, and it happened in the team's exhibition game against UNC Pembroke. The fifth-year senior from Australia averaged just 0.7 points and 0.7 rebounds last season in 5.4 minutes per game, but is expected to see more action in his final year as part of a Wolfpack club that's rebuilding.

Vandenberg is 7-1 and nearly 250 pounds.

Mark Gottfried's team starts its season on Nov. 8, when it hosts Appalachian State.
