New Mexico's Alex Kirk declaring for the NBA draft
Alex Kirk is leaving New Mexico for the NBA draft.
New Mexico center Alex Kirk will forgo his senior season and declare for the NBA Draft, sources told CBSSports.com.
Kirk, a 7-foot center, averaged 13.3 points and 8.7 rebounds this past season for the Lobos. He had a couple of monster games throughout the season, including a 32-point, 11-rebound, five-block performance against Massachusetts. However, he did struggle offensively late in the season, scoring in single-digits in his final three games.
Kirk is not included in many mock drafts, but someone with his size and shooting touch could get a look. He is a legitimate 7-feet, and can step out and knock down shots from the perimeter.
New Mexico finished 27-7 this season.
