Would the NCAA Tournament selection committee really leave Wichita State out of the Field of 68 if the Shockers are 29-5 on Selection Sunday and in need of an at-large bid?

Matt Norlander and I discussed that at the top of this episode of the Eye on College Basketball podcast and each acknowledged ... maybe. But we both agreed, gun to head, we don’t think they would -- mostly for the same reasons the selection committee didn’t leave Wichita State out last year, and that’s because the Shockers’ computer numbers, specifically their KenPom rating, is terrific. Wichita State was 24-8 on Selection Sunday last year and lacking so-called quality wins. But Gregg Marshall’s team was 21st in KenPom. So they got in. And right now they’re 13th at KenPom! Which is among the reasons I’ll be surprised if they don’t receive an at-large, should they need one on Selection Sunday.

We also talked about Kentucky and Florida.

Both won Tuesday night. Both are 13-2 in the SEC.

So Saturday’s game at Rupp Arena that tips at 2 p.m. ET on CBS is essentially for the SEC’s regular-season title. Massive game. Can’t wait. We discussed it -- and the Gators and Wildcats in general -- before turning our attention to Wednesday night’s notable games, specifically:

  • Duke at Syracuse
  • Minnesota at Maryland
  • Louisville at North Carolina
