Report: Sheldon McClellan seeking transfer from Texas
Texas' important sophomore, Sheldon McClellan, intends to transfer from the program, according to a report from ESPN.com on Wednesday night.
It's a pretty big blow to Rick Barnes and his team, which missed the NCAA tournament for the first time in 14 years this season. McClellan led the Horns in scoring for most of the 2011-12 season and was the most vital piece for the Horns heading into next year. He averaged 13.5 points this past season. Texas was a 16-18 team this year.
"There are no bitter feelings," McClellan's mother told ESPN.com. "He enjoyed his time at Texas. He's just looking for a place where he's a better fit. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery."
Barnes has also lost Jaylen Bond, a bench player, and could very well lose Myck Kabongo to the NBA draft. Kabongo sat out more than half the season due to NCAA suspension after it was deemed he took iilegal benefits while deftly attempting to test draft waters last spring.
