Report: Vanderbilt blocking Sheldon Jeter's transfer to Pitt
The "Pittsburgh Post-Gazette" is reporting that Vanderbilt is blocking freshman Sheldon Jeter's potential transfer to Pittsburgh.
Here is the quote from coach Kevin Stallings: “Sheldon has indicated that he’d like to play closer to home, and we wish him the best.”
Now, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that Vanderbilt is blocking Jeter’s potential transfer to Pitt.
According to the paper, it is unclear if Stallings is blocking Jeter from transferring to any other schools.
Jeter has several options to deal with the situation. He can appeal to the Vanderbilt athletics department to overturn coach Kevin Stallings' ruling. He can enroll at Pitt and pay tuition for one year before being put on scholarship. Or he can transfer to a school other than Pitt.
Something similar happened last offseason when Wisconsin coach Bo Ryan attempted to block Jarrod Uthoff from transferring to Iowa. Ryan restricted Uthoff from transferring to any Big Ten schools, although Uthoff ended up heading to Iowa anyway.
Jeter averaged 5.5 points and 3.4 rebounds this past season.
