Rhode Island gets brand-new court design
Rhode Island unveiled a brand-new court design on Tuesday, The Alex and Ani Court.
Over the past 18 months, Rhode Island has clearly picked up momentum. The Rams hired Dan Hurley as their head coach, picked up a few good recruits, and have some heightened expectations heading into the 2013-14 season.
And now they have a brand-new court – The Alex and Ani Court.
“We could not be more thrilled to unveil The Alex and Ani Court at the Thomas M. Ryan Center,” athletic director Thorr Bjorn said. “To have a Rhode Island-based, Inc. 500 company as highly respected as Alex and Ani buy into the naming rights of our new basketball court speaks volumes to the direction and excitement that is surrounding our program. The installation of this state-of-the-art court is yet another necessary step toward building a championship-caliber basketball program at the University of Rhode Island.”
Rhode Island went just 8-21 last season, but the addition of freshman E.C. Matthews and Rutgers transfer Gilvydas Biruta gives the Rams some optimism.
