Rutgers forward Junior Etou yet to be cleared to play this season
Junior Etou is practicing for Rutgers, but he hasn't been cleared to play in games yet this season.
Rutgers has received good news from the NCAA on a couple occasions this fall, but it’s still hoping for one more clearance.
The Scarlet Knights have yet to hear regarding the eligibility of freshman forward Junior Etou, the school confirmed to CBSSports.com on Thursday morning. Etou’s amateurism status is in question.
A source said they are hoping to hear soon whether Etou will be able to play this season. He is practicing with the team.
Etou, a 6-foot-7 forward from Bishop O’Connell (Va.), pledged to Rutgers back in May. He was a three-star forward and ranked No. 152 in the 247Sports Composite for the class of 2013.
If cleared, Etou would add another nice piece to Eddie Jordan’s rotation in his first season in Piscataway, N.J. Pittsburgh transfer J.J. Moore and Iowa State transfer Kerwin Okoro were both granted waivers to play immediately (Okoro after an appeal). While it was a tumultuous offseason for Rutgers, there is still some talent on the roster for Jordan. Guards Myles Mack and Jerome Seagears return in the backcourt, while Wally Judge is back up front. Kadeem Jack could be poised for a breakout season, and Greg Lewis and Malick Kone will both contribute.
