Saint Louis to name Jim Crews coach
Jim Crews, the 2013 NABC Coach of the Year, has had his interim tag removed.
Saint Louis will announce Jim Crews as its permanent coach on Friday.
A press conference is scheduled on campus.
Crews was an assistant on Rick Majerus' staff before being named interim head coach last preseason when Majerus, who died in December, took a leave of absence. At the time, the idea that Crews would get the job full-time seemed unlikely. But he guided the Billikens to a 28-7 record and an A-10 title and, in the process, Crews positioned himself as a viable candidate to land the position, which he's now done.
The 59-year-old former Indiana player was the 2013 NABC Coach of the Year.
