Suspended Florida PG Scottie Wilbekin returns to practice Friday
We are starting to see some clarity in Florida's roster situation for the upcoming season.
Florida’s roster is a state of flux right now, as head coach Billy Donovan is dealing with a variety of absences due to suspensions, ineligibility and injury.
He cleared some things up on Wednesday at Florida’s media day though.
The biggest news is that starting point guard Scottie Wilbekin will begin practicing with the team on Friday. Wilbekin has been suspended indefinitely since early June, for an unspecified violation of team rules.

Wilbekin, a 6-foot-2 senior, is still expected to miss games – and Donovan confirmed that this week.
“Scottie Wilbekin is going to miss games,” he told Jon Rothstein. “How much I don’t know, but you’re talking about your starting point guard not being with you to start the season.”
Two players who will not practice on Friday are Rutgers transfer Eli Carter and senior forward Will Yeguete.
Donovan reiterates what he said last week, Carter (leg) and Yegeute (knee) not yet medically cleared to practice. Wilbekin will practice.— OnlyGators.com (@onlygators) October 9, 2013
We reported last week that Carter was not medically cleared yet, but is expected to be ready for the season. He suffered a season-ending knee injury last February. Meanwhile, Yeguete underwent knee surgery in May.
A few more notes from the Gators, per Kevin Brockway of the Gainesville Sun:
-- Five-star freshman Chris Walker, who is currently sitting out due to academics, is still on track to join the team in December.
-- There were rumors regarding a potential suspension a couple of weeks ago, but Donovan said Damontre Harris, Dorian Finney-Smith and Casey Prather are practicing and won’t miss games.
