Tennessee State will announce Dana Ford as its new coach on Monday, sources told CBSSports.com.
There is a press conference scheduled for Monday afternoon.
Ford was an assistant coach at Tennessee State under John Cooper for three seasons, from 2009-11. Cooper left the Tigers for Miami (Ohio) in 2012. Ford has been the associate head coach at Illinois State the past two seasons, after spending one season at Wichita State as an assistant coach.
Ford was also at Chipola Junior College in Florida for one season.
He replaces Travis Williams, who went 5-25 this season before being fired.
