Tennessee transfer Trae Golden cleared to play at Georgia Tech
Former Tennessee guard Trae Golden has received a NCAA waiver to play this season at Georgia Tech, a source told CBSSports.com on Thursday.
An official announcement is expected soon.
Golden, a senior from Powder Springs, Ga., transferred to Georgia Tech this offseason in part to be closer to his father, who is reportedly facing health issues. The NCAA has a history of allowing student-athletes who transfer under such circumstances to do so without penalty, and Golden is now the latest. He averaged 12.1 points and 3.9 assists per game last season while playing for Cuonzo Martin's Volunteers.
