Tom Izzo: Adreian Payne will sit 'until he's 100 percent'
Michigan State is still not 100 percent healthy, as Adriean Payne continues to battle plantar fasciitis in his right foot.
Michigan State senior Adreian Payne missed Saturday’s overtime win against Minnesota while he continues to deal with plantar fasciitis in his right foot – and more DNPs could be on the way for Payne.
“I’ve got to look at the big picture for him, and the big picture for us,” Izzo said on Monday. “I do not see this lingering all year. Only if I let it – and I’m not gonna let it.”
Tom Izzo makes it clear -- MSU will rest Payne " until he's 100 percent." Could be out this week, next week, no timeline.— Joe Rexrode (@joerexrode) January 13, 2014
Payne wasn’t expected to play against Ohio State last week, but he was able to score 18 points and grab six rebounds despite the injury. He’s averaging 16.2 points and 7.7 rebounds on the season.
Michigan State is 15-1, with road games at Northwestern and Illinois coming up this week.
