UVA coach Tony Bennett: Loud UVA fans rivaled Taylor Swift concert
Tony Bennett thanked his fans for the support as the Cavaliers clinched the ACC regular season championship with a win against Syracuse on Saturday.
Virginia cut down its nets on Saturday, celebrating the ACC regular season title after a dominant win against No. 4 Syracuse in front of a rowdy John Paul Jones arena. With the Orange in town and an outright regular season title (the program's first since 1981) on the line, Cavaliers fans provided what head coach Tony Bennett called an "electric" atmosphere for the 75-56 win.
Bennett also joked that JPJ had finally reached Taylor Swift concert-status for a UVA basketball game.
"Last time I heard it that loud I was at the Taylor Swift concert," Bennett joked. "I sat there, and there's 14,000 teenage girls screaming, and I remember sitting there like, 'I wonder if we can get it like this for a game.'"
