VIDEO: Andrew Wiggins shows off new Kansas uniform design
Judging by comments from Kansas fans, plenty aren't too happy with the new look, even if they cherish the player wearing it.
I'm of the mind that, when it comes to uniforms of classic programs, you're better off not coloring outside the lines. But I'm not a marketer and certainly not an elite, 17-year-old prospect. The fact of the matter is, new uniforms and different styles to appeal to kids these days. (Kids these days.)
Kansas' threads haven't been immune to tweaks over the years, but they've never gone through a full overhaul, either. In the past decade, Kansas has made alterations to its gear thanks to its contract with Adidas. The next evolution of Jayhawk uniforms is coming for the upcoming season. Via Rock Chalk Blog comes a heads-up on Kansas' redone unis. In the Instagram video above (which comes from Kansas Athletics' official account) No. 1 overall 2013 recruit Andrew Wiggins shows off the new look for what KU says will be seen in an upcoming GQ mag.
The comments on the video are ... not positive. Kansas fans -- like UNC, Duke, Kentucky, UCLA, Indiana fans -- aren't prone to aesthetic change. They like their classic basketball arenas, storied histories, legendary coaches and instantly identifiable uniforms.
This uniform designed was reported on/"confirmed" in April, by the way. It's not so drastic that it'll cause too much of a stir, though I'll forever prefer the older/original look KU used to don. Another angle here, then a shot of Wiggins doing his best GQ Face.
