VIDEO: 'Tom Izzo' gets shot out of a cannon at Midnight Madness
The MSU coach is known for his grand entrances, and this year was no different. Take a peek.
EAST LANSING, Mich. -- When I got wind of what Michigan State was attempting to do with Tom Izzo this year, I didn't know how the team would pull it off.
Izzo's become known for his over-the-top entrances at Sparty's annual Michigan State Madness, which unofficially marks the start of preseason hype and excitement. On Friday night, Izzo was brought into Breslin Center riding atop the barrel of a human cannon machine attached to a big rig.
The atmosphere was fantastic, and even if Izzo didn't get in a massive human cannon and blast himself 40 feet into the air -- and who could blame him? -- the crowd ate it up. And the ruse was pulled off pretty well. The first two minutes of the video, which set up the cannon trickery, are pretty funny. We'll have more from Michigan State shortly, and be on the lookout on Saturday for all of our Midnight Madness video/content from around the country.
