The Virginia basketball program made a statement on social media Thursday night when several players tweeted a picture of the team taking a knee in what appears to be support of Colin Kaepernick's protest.

Virginia coach Tony Bennett came out on Friday with a statement supporting his players' protest.
"Our guys realize there are a lot of issues going on in our country," Bennett said. "I support their desire to promote peace and equality."
This is the first time an entire college basketball team has made such a statement.
Whether the Cavaliers will actually kneel for the anthem remains unclear.
Virginia is ranked ninth in the CBS Sports Top 25 (and one).
