West Virginia signee Elijah Macon needs a post-grad year
Elijah Macon expected to join West Virginia in the fall and provide inside depth for the Mountaineers. However, Macon will head to Brewster Academy (N.H.) for a post-grad year.
With Deniz Kilicli and La Salle transfer Aaric Murray teaming up down low, West Virginia is poised to have one of the best big men duos during its first year in the Big 12. Moreover, it expected to have four-star freshman Elijah Macon provide depth.
On Tuesday, coach Bob Huggins and the Mountaineers found out they will have to wait a season for Macon to join the team.
Macon, a 6-foot-8 power forward who spent last season at Huntington Prep (W.Va.), will head to Brewster Academy (N.H.) to complete a post-graduate year. Despite the move, Macon is still firmly set to head to West Virginia for 2013-14.
“Definitely committed to West Virginia,” Brewster coach Jason Smith told CBSSports.com.
Macon was ranked No. 64 in CBSSports.com’s final 2012 rankings.
