Wisconsin beats Maryland, snaps Terps' 27-game home winning streak

Wisconsin got another huge road win on Saturday, this time over No. 2 Maryland. (USATSI)

That's seven straight for Greg Gard.

Now he has a road win over a top-five team.

And is Wisconsin's interim coach going to be Wisconsin's full-time coach?

The answer to that question remains undetermined. But Gard is making a case for himself, and the latest good development is Saturday's 70-57 win over No. 2 Maryland.

"We took a huge step forward," Gard said in a postgame interview with ESPN's television announcers, and it's hard to argue with that assessment.

The Badgers shot 46.2 percent from 3-point range -- compared to 41.1 percent from the field -- and basically led the entire game. On the road. On their way to snapping Maryland's 27-game winning streak at Xfinity Center -- and it didn't matter that Diamond Stone, a projected lottery pick in June's NBA Draft, was allowed to stay in the game after he maybe should've been ejected from the game for pushing Vitto Brown's head into the court.

Take a look at that, if you missed it.

Either way, Wisconsin now has four top-50 RPI wins. And the Badgers have gone from 9-9 overall to 16-9 overall, from 1-4 in the Big Ten to 8-4 in the Big Ten. And Brown, banged-head and all, finished with a career-high 21 points while Bronson Koenig added 16.
