Alabama lands five-star defensive end Jonathan Allen
Nick Saban got a nice surprise on Monday morning, picking up a commitment from Ashburn (Va.) defensive end Jonathan Allen.
"Coach Saban was excited when I told him. He said he wanted to go out and celebrate," Allen told ESPN.com.
The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder picked Alabama over Florida, Michigan, Virginia Tech and others. Allen could also play a little linebacker in the Crimson Tide defense and recently visited Tuscaloosa before making his pledge.
"At the end of the day I thought Alabama was the best fit for me," the five-star said. "They give me the best opportunity to showcase my talents."
Alabama is up to 14 class of 2013 commitments with Allen becoming the first defensive end of the group. He is ranked 36th overall in the class by MaxPreps and No. 3 defensive end.
