Alabama picks up big transfer in Bowling Green WR Gehrig Dieter
Alabama landed a graduate transfer who surpassed 90 passes and 1,000 yards last season.
Bowling Green wide receiver Gehrig Dieter is moving on to Alabama.
The receiver announced via his Twitter account Saturday that he'll be transferring to Alabama to finish his college career after graduating from Bowling Green in May.
This is a nice pickup for Alabama, as Dieter had quite a season with Bowling Green in 2015. The 6-foot-3 wideout caught 94 passes for 1,044 yards and 10 touchdowns. The reception total was ninth in the country, while his 10 touchdowns were 17th overall.
While Calvin Ridley and ArDarius Stewart will continue to be Alabama's big-play options next year, odds are that the Tide hopes Dieter -- a MaxPreps All-American in high school -- can step in and fill the shoes of Richard Mullaney, which is somewhat ironic considering that Mullaney himself was a graduate transfer from Oregon State.
Since he's graduating in May, Dieter will not have to sit out the 2016 season. He has one year of eligibility remaining.
