A&M QB Kenny Hill on the Heisman radar after record-breaking game
Kenny Hill was not listed on the board for Heisman Trophy odds but was added during the first half of his spectacular performance against Texas A&M.
The reverberations from Kenny Hill's debut as Texas A&M's starting quarterback shook the SEC from Columbia from Columbia. Hill picked apart the South Carolina defense, completing 44 of 60 passes while connecting with 12 different receivers and becoming the first Texas A&M quarterback to throw for more than 500 yards.
|Texas A&M Most Passing Yards in Game|
|511||Kenny Hill||S. Carolina (2014)|
|464||Johnny Manziel||Alabama (2013)|
|454||Johnny Manziel||Auburn (2013)|
|453||Johnny Manziel||Arkansas (2012)|
|449||Ryan Tannehill||Texas Tech (2010)|
That's right, not even Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel ever threw for 500 yards (his career high was 464) during his prolific career in College Station. With Texas A&M's nasty offensive line and explosive talent at wide receiver, it is likely that Hill will continue to put up big numbers throughout the season.
It is too early to deem Hill -- who also set a school record for pass attempts -- as the new Heisman favorite, but he is certainly one to watch if the Texas A&M offense can power the Aggies into SEC West contention. Sportsbook.com was on top of things Thursday night, adding the sophomore quarterback to its Heisman Trophy odds board before the game had even hit the fourth quarter.
From off the board to 20/1 before the game was even over -- I'd say they are taking Hill, and Texas A&M, seriously.

Even Johnny Football himself congratulated Hill on the performance after the Browns' preseason game on Thursday night.
