Baylor WR Robbie Rhodes arrested, faces pot charge
Baylor sophomore wide receiver was charged with marijuana possession after a traffic stop on Friday.
Baylor wide receiver Robbie Rhodes was arrested late last week after a traffic stop resulted in a marijuana possession charge.
Rhodes, a rising sophomore and former five-star prospect according to the 247Sports Composite, was stopped for changing lanes without signaling early Friday when police found the marijuana. Because he attempted to hide the drugs, police also charged Rhodes with evidence tampering.
Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton told the Waco Tribune-Herald that an officer stopped Rhodes about 4 a.m. Friday for changing lanes without a signal on Spur 2 on the edge of downtown. Swanton said the officer smelled marijuana when he approached the driver's side window and found almost 6 grams of marijuana in a plastic bag under the front seat.
Baylor coach Art Briles told the Waco Tribune-Herald he would address the situation but did not elaborate at the time.
Rhodes battled injuries during his freshman season and finished the year with 10 catches for 157 yards.
