Bowl projections: Title game is set
Notre Dame, Alabama and Georgia took the suspense out of the title game picture, but there are still some BCS berths available
Notre Dame finished the season undefeated and clinched a spot in the BCS title game in Miami. This week's projections show the Irish facing Alabama. The Tide will face Georgia next week for the SEC title and that spot against Notre Dame.
Stanford beat UCLA in the Rose Bowl on Saturday, and will now host them with a trip back to the Rose Bowl on the line in the Pac-12 title game on Friday. Oregon beat Oregon State in the Civil War, but will have to settle for a likely Fiesta Bowl bid instead.
The Ducks opponent is projected to be Kansas State, which needs to beat Texas this week to clinch the Big 12 title. Oklahoma would win the title if KSU loses and the Sooners beat TCU.
Oklahoma projects into the Sugar Bowl against Florida, which clinched an automatic at-large berth with a win over Florida State.
The Seminoles still figure to win the ACC title against Georgia Tech, which will not be bowl-eligible at all if that happens. FSU would face the winner of Louisville and Rutgers, which is projected to be the Cards.
The Rose is now expected to be Nebraska vs Stanford. Nebraska and UCLA played each other in the regular season, so the bowl is hoping that matchup doesn't materialize.
We now have 70 eligible teams, exactly how many we need. Pitt, UConn and Georgia Tech could still become eligible next week. If they do, that'll knock out a couple MAC and/or Sun Belt teams.
