Brian Kelly sets Everett Golson readmittance date for Dec. 13
Everett Golson's return to Notre Dame will be official in 10 days, Brian Kelly says.
The long-awaited return of Everett Golson to Notre Dame now has a fixed date.
Brian Kelly told ESPN Tuesday that Golson's application for reenrollment at the school has been approved, and he would be officially readmitted Dec. 13.
"[T]hat information has been provided to admissions," Kelly said. "It's just a matter of them sending out the admittance letter and then being back on campus sometime around the 15th of December."
Golson will not, however, be allowed to practice with the Irish or travel with the team for the 8-4 Irish's bowl game. He will, however, be enrolled in time for Notre Dame's upcoming spring camp, and will be a redshirt junior during the 2014 season.
Golson was dismissed from school at the end of Notre Dame's spring 2013 semester for what he later admitted was cheating on a test. But the Myrtle Beach, S.C. native repeatedly expressed his confidence he would be allowed to return to school and to the Irish roster.
Kelly was equally confident, and confirmed in November that Golson had applied to be reinstated.
Golson's return will be highly welcome; 2013 starting quarterback Tommy Rees is a senior, and Golson will be expected to reprise the form that helped take the Irish to a 12-0 record and berth in the BCS championship game in 2012.
