Florida suspends three for opener (team rules)
Florida announced suspensions for Jay-nard Bostwick, Darious Cummings and Demarcus Robinson.
Florida announced one-game suspensions for three players due to team rules violations on Saturday. They will all miss the Gators' season opener against Idaho.
Defensive linemen Jay-nard Bostwick and Darious Cummings have been suspended for a violation of team rules while wide receiver Demarcus Robinson will miss the game due to a "university sanction." Florida is a heavy favorite against Idaho, so these losses should not impact the Gators in their efforts to get a strong start to the 2014 season.
“Jay-nard Bostwick and Darious Cummings will not play due to a violation of team rules and Demarcus Robinson will miss the game due to a university sanction that is now resolved,” Will Muschamp said “I support the university sanction. We have rules here that we have to follow — team, athletic department and university rules — and when you don’t follow them there are consequences.”
Cummings started six games in 2013 and was listed as the starting nose tackle on Florida's depth chart. Robinson, a four-star prospect out of Georgia in the 2013 recruiting class, saw just seven games of action as a freshman last season.
