Florida's Matt Jones is out for the season
Florida running back Matt Jones will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury against LSU.
It turns out Florida lost more than a game on Saturday.
Will Muschamp confirmed on Monday that running back Matt Jones is going to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. The team had originally thought Jones had suffered only a sprain to his knee, but it turns out he has a torn meniscus and will need surgery.
Jones is Florida's second leading rusher on the season, rushing for 339 yards and two touchdowns through the first six games of the season.
While there's been a lot of attention paid to the injuries that Florida's SEC East rival Georgia Bulldogs have suffered in recent weeks, the Gators aren't exactly healthy themselves these days.
Florida has lost starting quarterback Jeff Driskel, defensive lineman Dominique Easley, returner Andre Debose and right tackle Chaz Green to season-ending injuries this year. Which means its upcoming date with Georgia could be more of a World's Largest Outdoor Infirmary Ward than cocktail party at this point.
