LOOK: Ole Miss LB Sederius Bryant ejected for targeting
Ole Miss linebacker Sederius Bryant was ejected from Thursday night's game after a targeted hit on Boise State quarterback Grant Hedrick.
There was a change in the targeting rules during the offseason, allowing penalties to be reviewed in order to prevent a player from being wrongly ejected. But after Ole Miss linebacker Sederius Bryant laid out Boise State quarterback Grant Hedrick, there was no question whether or not the hit matched the letter of the law.
Hedrick was rolling out to his right with Bryant in pursuit, and the Rebels' senior linebacker lowered his helmet and shoulder pads after the quarterback had released the ball. Bryant's loss is s setback for Ole Miss, which has been slow to get rolling in the first quarter but lead 7-0.
