The field at Papa John's Cardinals Stadium will have a new look in 2013 thanks to new FieldTurf, Louisville announced on Thursday.

The school is replacing the 10-year-old turf this offseason. The new design is not a major departure from the previous look, but the fresh FieldTurf will likely give a sharpened appearance to the entire stadium.

Louisville football spokesman Rocco Gasparro told the Courier-Journal the new surface is expected to be ready "about June 1."

Another nugget of Louisville football news was revealed in Notre Dame's joint announcement with NBC regarding the extension of a television deal. Part of the school's discussions with NBC included plans for Notre Dame's partial ACC membership, which is scheduled to begin in 2014.

According to the Chicago Tribune, NBC executive Jon Miller said Notre Dame will play Louisville on the 2014 schedule -- the Cardinals' first season of ACC play.

Louisville, a full ACC member in 2014, has not heard any official word from the league office regarding next seasons schedule. Notre Dame will work with the ACC, not the individual schools, to arrange the five conference matchups required in the Fighting Irish's partial membership.
