Louisville wide receiver DeVante Parker is out for six to eight weeks with a foot injury. Louisville coach Bobby Petrino confirmed the news Monday, saying that Parker suffered a broken fifth metatarsal in his foot, and will undergo surgery on it.

Now, while losing Parker for six to eight weeks certainly isn't good news for the Cardinals, it could have been worse.

When Parker originally went down with the foot injury on Friday night the initial fears were that his season was over. Now it looks as though Parker could be back just in time for Louisville's game against Clemson on Oct. 11. If that's too soon, Louisville's game against Florida State isn't for another 10 weeks on Oct. 30.

Parker's return to the Cardinals should be a boost, as he finished last season with 55 catches for 885 yards and a school record 12 touchdowns.
